June is
the climax of the summer with consecutive heat wave; temperature risen at high
level; stifling and muggy air in Hanoi as well as in the North of Vietnam.
However, in July, temperatures in Hanoi are still quite high and just lower about 1-2 degree Celsius than the temperature in June.
In July, there still appear some intense heat wave, the
highest temperature may be up to 38-40 degree Celsius and the popular
temperature are from 35 to 37 degree Celsius. But it also begins to appear more
rainfall than in June in Hanoi and in the North of Vietnam.
In fact the rainy season is not clear in the North but the
intensity of rain begins in August and Northern people often call it is “Ngau”
rain – sudden and brief rain.
In July, a lot of young people from Hanoi go to the islands
in the area of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay such as Quan Lan Island, Co To
Island, Cat Ba Island of go to Nha Trang, Ha Giang... to avoid the heat and bath in the sea.
July is also the time when tropical storms begin to appear
more on the Pacific region after crossing the Philippines and often move at high
speed to the West- Northwest, land more in Gulf of Tonkin as well as in the
North of Vietnam.
From August to the end of year, storms tend to land in the
Middle and in the South of Vietnam. Storm can engender heavy rains in Hanoi but
it just lasts about 2-3 days (read more: Rainy season in Hanoi). The major roads may be flooded, congested
traffic. You can view the photos on this website. But in August or September,
sudden rain may last for a week.
