Hoi An is an old town in Vietnam. It is located in Quang Nam province and in Central Vietnamese, near the East Sea. Hoi An is about 40km to the south of Da Nang city and Da Nang airport.
Maybe many Vietnamese tourists do not have much of an impression of Hoi An, but to a lot of foreign tourists, especially European and American tourists, this is a place that can’t be missed when travelling to Vietnam.
Perhaps, Hoi An wouldn’t be special to attract foreign tourists without three following "specialties":

3. Delicious and unique dishes
Nowadays, only a few places in Vietnam are still considered "old town" or "ancient town". These consists of Hanoi's Old Quarter, Bao Vinh ancient street (in Hue), the ancient town of Dong Van (in Ha Giang Province, about 460km to the north of Hanoi, near bordering Vietnam - China) and Hoi An ancient town.

The ancient town of Dong Van and Hoi An are quite alike as they are both small towns. However, Dong Van town has gradually degraded, however the town of Hoi An is still preserved to the scale of an ancient urban center, with moss houses and ancient architecture still remaining.
Hanoi Old Quarter (↵) is now actually just a name, the old houses were demolished and replaced with modern buildings (only a couple of really old traditional houses of ancient Vietnam left ).
That is why many people want to go to Hoi An: to see the old houses. From the ancient city, if you want to swim, just go another 5km to Cua Dai beach.

So which is the best season to travel to Hoi An? What is the ideal time to be able to feel and admire the full beauty of the old town that captivated everyone?
The weather and climate of Hoi An
Hoi An has two distinct seasons, which is like Nha Trang → (best time to visit) and the South of Vietnam are the dry season and the rainy season. The rainy season begins in August and lasts until the end of December, while the dry season (less rain and sunny) lasts from January to July every year.
In the winter, in Hanoi and North Vietnam (from November to March), the temperature falls very low (the lowest in a year), Hoi An sometimes has cold spells, too, but they do not last long.

If you arrive to Hoi An on sunny days, it is beautiful. Every alley, every line of trees, every house are stained with sunlight. But on rainy days, Hoi An is still beautiful in the red lanterns’ light.
The best time to go to Hoi An, Vietnam
It depends on each person’s preference to come to Hoi An in different seasons and different times. But the best time to travel to Hoi An is in February to April every year. When summer time begins. It doesn’t rain profusely (it hardly rains), nor too hot. So, the weather and the climate are very favorable to visit the old town.
However, if you go to Hoi An, you should organise your schedule to be able to be there at a full moon night.

Full moon night is when the moon is brightest and roundest, on the 14th lunar oriental calendar.
At this time, Hoi An becomes the most beautiful, the most crowded. On these days, the people of Hoi An often walk, sing ancient songs, hold folk games, drop flower lanterns, light lanterns, ect.
