This is beacause there are two obviously seasons in Phu Quoc island, include: rainy season (it rains unceasingly for all day and for month) and dry season (there is no rain for many months)

Phu Quoc weather is hardly ever has winter not only because it is located in the South of Vietnam, a place near by the equator (tropical climate) but also because it is covered by the mainland in the North.
You can imagine that Phu Quoc island is like a big mango which extended in the North-South direction (it is big in the North and becomes smaller in the South just like the stem and the acceleration of a mango). Along “the mango” there is Ham Ninh mountain which devide the island into two parts include: the east of Phu Quoc island and the west of Phu Quoc island.

In each part, there are different beaches with different name. The central of this island is Duong Dong town (from Phu Quoc airport it is about 7 kilometers far in the North). Duong Dong town located next to the West coast of this island. From Duong Dong town to the north of Phu Quoc island, there are some beautiful beaches such as Ong Lang beach (quite beautiful), Bai Dai (the most beautiful beach in Phu Quoc island), Ganh Dau cape, ect...

In rainy season (from May to November), all of beaches which located in the west of Phu Quoc island appear huge waves, it rains cats and dogs and the weather is really bad. There are less and less tourists go to beaches and resorts in here. This is not the main travelling season in Phu Quoc island. In contrast, at the same time, in the east of Phu Quoc island, the weather is very good, beaches is peaceful so that tourists are able to swim and relax. Most tourists are more likely to book hotel here.
If you book room in a resort or hotel in the west of Phu Quoc island in rainy season, you may not want to go out of your room for the whole week because of heavy rain. You would not go to any place which you want to visit. What a pity, right?

But in dry season (from late November of last year to April of next year), there is little rain in the west of the island, sometimes it is hot because of the sun and the sea is peaceful, the weather is nice. On the other hand, beaches in the East of Phu Quoc island have huge waves and bad weather. Nobody would like to book hotel or resort here. If you go to Phu Quoc island in November, December, January, February, March and April, you should choose a hotel or resort in the west of this island such as: Ong Lang Beach, Long Beach, Bai Dai Beach, Ganh Dau cape, ect

This is also the main travelling season of Phu Quoc island. Plenty of Vietnamese tourists and international tourists go to Phu Quoc island. There is a little raise in the service price and the hotel price, too. The price to book a room in Phu Quoc island is considered quite expensive comparing to others tourist area in Vietnam such as Nha Trang, Ha Long Bay, Sapa Town, Hoi An Ancient Town, ect
After considering the time you would go to Phu Quoc island, then chosing which place you want to stay, you will find out about the resorts or hotels in that place. If you go to the west of Phu Quoc island, you should book resorts located in Bai Truong (Long Beach) in Cua Lap, Duong To commune - Phu Quoc island (in the south of Duong Dong town). Long Beach is considered to be the longest beach in Vietnam. There are about 200 resorts and hotels for you to chose here. This is a beautiful beach with white sand, about 20 kilometer long. However, Bai Dai beach which is located in the north of Duong Dong town is even more beautiful.

If you want to book a hotel room in the east of Phu Quoc island, you should choose Bai Sao Beach because this is the most beautiful beach in Phu Quoc island with white sand and peaceful beach.
When I first went to Phu Quoc island before, I insisted that summer (in May, June, July and August) is the main travelling season of Phu Quoc island but in fact, the main travelling season of Phu Quoc island is in the dry season which is from November of last year to April of next year. If you travel to Phu Quoc island on New Year holiday and Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam, this is exactly the main travelling season of Phu Quoc island. At this time, it is expensive to book a room in hotel or resort. Because the majority of tourist want to book rooms in the central of Phu Quoc island (as Duong Dong town) and in some places such as Bai Truong, Bai Dai and Ong Lang beach to have a view of the sea. Rainy season is not the main travelling season in Phu Quoc island so beaches in the west of Phu Quoc island have fewer tourists than another time (still have lots of tourits there). This is why the price of the room would be cheaper.

I also suggest you to notice that there is no storm in Phu Quoc island but in rainy season, rain may unceasingly continue for the whole week. However, there may also be sunny days and dry days.
