In the North of Vietnam, there are 4 places where foreign tourists usually want to visit when they go to Hanoi. They are:

1. Sapa in Lao Cai, 340 kilometers from Hanoi to the Northwest

2. Dong Van - Meo Vac Plateau in Ha Giang Province (there’s also known as Vietnam’s Pole North, 440 kilometers from Hanoi to the North)

3. Trang An- Tam Coc Bich Dong- Hoa Lu in Ninh Binh Province, 90 kilometers from Hanoi the South

4. And Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong City being far 160 kilometers from Hanoi to the East.

Ha Giang is a poor and disadvantaged province in the North of Vietnam and it is contiguous to China. This province locates in the first place on the S- shaped Vietnam map. So, we reckon Ha Giang is "north pole" of motherland.
